Congratulations, sorry for the delay, and a self portrait
I was happy to show up in the winning photos with my Kayak, disturbing the water's Autumn color reflections in Salem Lake. Thank you for your votes, it was a tough, hard fight.
I congratulate Grumpy and mnhtnbb for their beautiful, worthy winning photographs, and there were so many others utterly fabulous.
And I very much thank George McGovern for a flawless first in hosting.
I'm only now piping in because I was in the ER for 9 hours today, where they diagnosed the fall I had the day before yesterday as having broken a vertebra; no wonder I hurt hard and did not get better.
The photo is of me, OK, it's my left foot, in the room between X-rays and a CT scan, and so forth.
I will be glued back together soon with some glue. I have had that before with another break, and it solves the problem.
So, don't cry for me.
Be grateful with me it was not worse.
Now for the self-portrait, I took the photo as I was lying in the dreary Room at the ER -and it was funny - but the post-images are not working for me tonight, and I need to rest.

We were neck and neck there for quite a while, weren't we? It was a great competition. It could have gone either way.
I'm sorry you fell and got hurt. I fell this week too, but fortunately only lost a considerable amount of skin and bruised myself. I fell and broke my nose a few years ago.
