Thread for VOLUNTEERS to HOST monthly Photography Contests for 2020.

As a result of the poll conducted in this thread, https://www.democraticunderground.com/103673544 it looks like we have a response decidedly in favor of continuing monthly contests with a list of volunteer hosts. Several people have already volunteered. (If you are one of them, please respond in this thread and indicate which month(s) you'd like to host.) I am starting this thread asking for volunteers to sign up with a choice of month for 2020. Personally, I think we should still let the winner of a contest select the theme for the following month's contest (and not be eligible to enter), but the contest would be hosted by a volunteer who would be allowed to enter. Does that seem fair? If someone volunteers to host February, then January would be our first contest disconnected from the responsibility for hosting by the winner. If someone volunteers to host March (the WINTER SEASONAL Contest) then a la izquierda will be off the hook for hosting March as the winner of the AUTUMN contest we ran in December.


Here are the months. If you would like to host, please respond and identify which month you would like to host. The SEASONAL Contests run in March, June, September, and December. All other months are theme oriented contests which previously were selected--and hosted--by the winner of the previous month's contest. If you agree that the winner should still select the theme for the next month (unless it's a seasonal contest), please indicate. The winner would still then not be allowed to enter, but would also not be responsible for hosting the contest.

As people respond with the months they would like to host, I will put the names together with the months so that we can refer back to this thread to see who has volunteered for hosting any particular month this year.

16. We still have openings for 3 more volunteer hosts: June, August, and December.

The June and December contests are seasonal, so no waiting for the winner of the previous month to choose a theme. If you have never hosted a contest, there are still plenty of months to watch how it's done. If you enjoyed hosting previously--and haven't already signed up to host a contest--please do!

19. Photo enthusiasts: While I'm busy poking around with the February Contest I noticed

this needs a kick of a reminder and to put out the notice that the June and December contests do not yet have a volunteer host.
Both are seasonal contests, Spring and Autumn. Please consider putting your name down, and then we have the whole year covered.

20. I have unpinned this thread to draw attention

to the fact we are still in need of volunteers to host two contests this year. Both are seasonal contests. We need someone to host the SPRING contest which runs in June, and to host the AUTUMN contest which runs in December.
