The Golden Girls

I’ve been watching a slew of clips of The Golden Girls which users have uploaded to Tik Tok. I continue to be amazed by how well the performances and the writing/humor have held up in the 30+ years since the show aired.

One clip I watched this morning was barely over a minute in length and there were five legitimately laugh out loud moments as Rose told Dorothy and Blanche a story about the time she entered a beauty pageant in St. Olaf. It’s a challenge to cram that many laughs, let alone very good laughs, into a unifying story in such a short span of time. It seemed like a breeze for those actresses and writers.

I need to find where the show is steaming so I can watch more than clips of the show. It’s no wonder how beloved the show is given how well crafted the show is.

1. Simply one of the greatest TV shows of all time

Having the four great comedians together and the roles they played was a stroke of inspiration. The acting, the comedy, the writing, and the chemistry that all four had with each other was amazing.

2. One of my favorite shows ever. I always laugh every time I watch it.

Right along side The Mary Tyler Moore show, which was often written by women comedy writers

As well as the spinoff, called Golden Tower (I think).
