we have lost convection for sonora ca thundeerstorms except nws forecasts for 21% chance later tonite

interisting that the storms are coming from the north east to the south west ,retrograding or backing up over the sierra nevada mountain range

What exactly do you mean that you've lost convection for thunderstorms. Huh? Not sure I've ever seen that before. Would exactly is meant by convection for thunderstorms?
