Supervisor poised for trial on Arizona election interference charges after top court rejects stay

Cochise County Supervisor Tom Crosby appears headed for trial after the state's top court rejected his last-ditch effort to avoid prosecution in an ongoing election interference case.

The Arizona Supreme Court said it wouldn't review the proceedings or grant a stay in the case in a short order on Monday. The document offered no explanation as to how the court reached that decision, but noted that it was made "en banc."

That means all justices — except for Justice Maria Elena Cruz, who the order states did not take part in the deliberations — looked at Crosby's request.

Attorney Dennis Wilenchik, who is representing Crosby in the case, said he intends to "try the case to a jury and hopefully win."
