LITTLE ROCK, AR -- A grassroots group of Arkansans opposed to anti-abortion legislation and other bills are planning a protest at the state capitol on Saturday, asking lawmakers to stop what they call a war on women.
So far the group's Facebook event page has received more than 1,000 Arkansans who say they'll be participating in the protest at the state capitol.
The event's key contentions are with Senator Jason Rapert's 12-week abortion bill, Rep. Andy Mayberry's 20-week abortion bill and other bills affecting women's reproductive rights and access to places like Planned Parenthood.
Those who have helped organize the rally say they're concerned because they believe these bills are unconstitutional, a waste of taxpayer money to defend if challenged in court, and a pattern of government interfering in women's private decisions.
