(16,586 posts)1. The "Independent" status of people goes back to the era of the
Conservative Democratic Party under Orval Faubus and the Dixiecrats. People who were voting Republican (or liberal) back then had problems voting if they registered as Republicans. Now we liberals or Democrats registered as Independent for the same reason. (And it allows us to vote in the Republican primary to mess them up) but they do the same.

(190 posts)5. I'm still pissed off because her dad only became governor
because of Ken Starr's witch hunt. He targeted the then-Democratic governor Jim Guy Tucker just because the lieutenant governor at the time was her dad. If the lieutenant governor at the time had been a Democrat, Starr wouldn't have pursued that witch hunt.
