(16,590 posts)JONESBORO, Ark. (KTHV) An active shooter alert was in effect at Arkansas State University Thursday, according to campus police. The alleged gunman is now in custody.
Here's a look at the information we know now:
- A tweet shared by the university just after 1:30 p.m. read, "Report of an active shooter spotted at the student union. Everyone should evacuate to the west side of the building and clear the area."
- The Associated Press reports an armed man drove onto campus in a pickup truck outside the student union Thursday afternoon.
- Police quickly surrounded him, and by 2:48 p.m., Jonesboro police said the man, Brad Bartelt, 47, was in custody. The Craighead County Sheriff's Office's inmate roster lists Bartelt as being charged with aggravated assault.
