3. I live in North Beach, AKA Little Italy,

which is a very tourist friendly little neighborhood walking distance from Fisherman’s wharf.

Around here it feels like things are pretty much back to normal. My friend who owns a popular local bar says business is good - not back to pre-covid levels, but decent.

But the financial district is a different story. It’s a ghost town. Work from home has emptied it out. Same with downtown, which is what we call the Union Square area with the big department stores, luxury boutiques, etc. No office workers or commuters means no shoppers. Stores are shutting down and not being replaced.

As for fentanyl, yes it’s here. But the whole city does not look like the worst block of the worst street in the Tenderloin, which is what you see on Fox News, and in this video.

We have our challenges, yes, but we’ve survived earthquakes, boom and bust cycles, and financial collapses before, and we will again.

I don’t know one single person who lives here who doesn’t love it. Most of us view the badmouthing with bemusement. Are they talking about us? Oh well. Don’t like it? Don’t come.

4. I used to like this guy's videos . . .

. . . but then I saw a whole slew of them, most released fairly recently, in which he blathers on about how migrants are destroying one place after another. I stopped watching him at that point.
