The Mesa County Sheriff's Office has announced that the remains related to a case that involved a human head and hands being discovered in a freezer at a local home have been identified.
The discovery took place on January 12, 2024, with a call placed regarding a suspicious find on the 2900 block of Pinyon Avenue in northeast Grand Junction. The remains were initially found when a new owner of a recently sold home offered the appliance for free, with someone who arrived to claim the freezer unit said to have made the find.
On October 11, authorities revealed that the identity of the remains was determined to be Amanda Leariel Overstreet. Overstreet is believed to have been about 16-years-old at the time of her disappearance, having not been seen or heard from since April of 2005. Amanda was the biological daughter of the previous owner of the home.
The type of freezer Amanda's remains were found in was a sort of standalone deep freezer, located on the front yard of the property during the investigation. At the time of the discovery, the public noted that there was not believed to be an ongoing threat to the public. The investigation into Amanda's disappearance continues, with current evidence pointing to Amanda having never been reported missing.

(13,272 posts)1. Gave me chills. How horribly sad.
I usually dont even read these posts, but something made me want to know more about this little girl, so I googled another article with much more information. Here is the link in case anyone is interested. Its not a gory piece but tells more about the family who lived there.
