West Haven CT Republicans see small member exodus after election losses
WEST HAVEN Since local Republicans' losses on Election Day, local party officials appeared to be split on the party's direction as nearly one-in-six members of the Republican Town Committee resigned this month.
Nine members of the 60-member body tendered their resignations from the RTC in November. In resignation letters obtained by the Register, many expressed frustration with leadership. The 117th District, held by West Haven Republican Charlie Ferraro for 10 years, flipped to Democratic control by a narrow margin, as 24-year-old Milford Democrat MJ Shannon defeated former West Haven Police Commission Chairman Ray Collins III. Local Republicans' attempts to unseat Democratic incumbents also fell short this year.
"Were fractured; the town committee is totally fractured, said former RTC Chairman Paul Frosolone, who did not resign from the committee, but who has been outspoken about the party's direction in the aftermath of the election.
