Ron DeSantis talks up his wife as next Florida governor and takes a shot at Trump's pick

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — As Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis approaches the end of his second term in office, he’s talking up one potential heir to succeed him in 2026: his wife, Casey DeSantis. And he’s taking a shot at President Donald Trump ‘s pick to be the next governor.

Questioned by reporters in Tampa on Monday, DeSantis touted his wife as a staunch conservative who would build on his legacy and argued that the state’s first lady could pull in even more voters than he did. DeSantis won a dominant reelection victory in 2022 with a nearly 20-point margin.

“She’s somebody that has, I think, the intestinal fortitude and the dedication to conservative principles,” DeSantis said of his wife. “Anything we’ve accomplished, she’d be able to take to the next level.”

The comments came days after the president threw his support behind U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds, a Florida Republican who has been a prominent surrogate for Trump on the campaign trail and cable news.

I actually thought DeeSantis would have rammed a bill through to allow him to run for a 3rd term Best_man23 Feb 25 #2

a "good mother" and a role model for women to drop out of the work force and tend to the hearth of the Family.

Now, she's being promoted as not just a legislator, but an executive running the state.

This is her employment background:
Early in her career, DeSantis hosted the Golf Channel programs On The Tee and PGA Tour Today. She was also a local newscaster and anchor for WJXT, in Jacksonville, Florida. She held several positions there, including general assignment reporter, morning anchor, and police reporter.

In 2014, DeSantis was a creator-moderator for The Chat, an hour-long round table panel discussion talk show that aired on Tegna's Jacksonville stations WTLV (NBC) and WJXX (ABC). She hosted the daily local talk show First Coast Living as well as the weekly The American Dream program about entrepreneurs. DeSantis wrote and produced the television documentary Champion, The JT Townsend Story about high school football player J.T. Townsend. She also won a regional Suncoast Emmy Award.

Like many of Trump's selections for his "Cabinet", she draws her experience in the Media.

I re-iterate my opinion: She would be the front for DeSantis continuing to run Florida.

I guess the Rubber Stamp that serves as the Florida legislature turned him down (behind closed doors, of course).
