For the time since I was born there, 72 years ago.
Fortunately, the RV park where we're staying has a storm shelter.

temps, sudden intense winds and all power out. On the 2nd or 3rd day we had gasoline and fled to the Delmarva coast.

More here:
The storm system is paired with humid conditions and a heat index of more than 100 degrees in the Chicago area. Borchardt said the heat and humidity will contribute to the intensity of Mondays storms.
You can almost wear the air, Borchardt said. This kind of air is like rocket fuel to storms.
The counties projected to have storms Monday include Winnebago, Boone, McHenry, Lake, Ogle, Lee, DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, LaSalle, Kendall, Grundy, Kankakee, Livingston, Iroquois, Ford, Cook and Will counties in Illinois.

Dangerous line of severe t-storms moving across the Chicago metro area will move into NW Indiana through 415 pm. Seek shelter BEFORE the storms arrive! Widespread 70+ mph winds likely, isolated areas will see stronger winds & possible tornado and/or tornado-like damage!
