Related: About this forumFair tax on the ballot
People are so grossly misinformed and that I had to stop what I was doing today when a friend called me confused about the fair tax amendment.
She was all set to vote yes which is the correct vote until she received conflicting mailers yesterday. Then today she read the actual mail in ballot itself which shes going to drop off at the election board location tomorrow. The gobbledygook on the mail back ballot is unreal.
I promised to send her some bullet points which I asked her to share since she has a large group of people she interacts with on Facebook and social media. I am sharing those here too.
I hope you will also pass them on to as many as you can and I appreciate any feedback if you have suggestions they are welcome.

Please 🙏🏽 vote YES for the FAIR Tax AMENDMENT.
💰 1st: Its an amendment not a tax hike.
💰 2nd: The amendment lets the state tax millionaires and billionaires so they pay more taxes not you.
💰 3rd: When you file IRS taxes you pay a certain rate based on how much you make (for instance single or married pay different rates). With the amendment, there would be a category for millionaires and billionaires to pay a higher rate.
💰 4th: Illinois is in financial trouble due to the pandemic. State taxes will eventually go up because the federal government wont help our state. You will pay more if you dont vote yes so millionaires pay more instead.
💰 5th: Bottom line: Those who make more $$$ should pay more taxes. Its only fair.
Share so everyone pays their fair share.

(713 posts)Frankly, I am insulted that the groups backed by the millionaires/billionaires think we are stupid. I am impressed by the "counter point" TV ads. Most of us do NOT have AGI of $250K or more.
