Whats in it for you? Illinois sweeping new clean energy law includes a $4,000 rebate on an electric car, up to 10% off on your electric bill and up to $9,000 back on a solar roof.
Whether youre installing solar panels, buying an electric car, or just looking for a break on your electricity bill, the energy law offers incentives, both new and familiar. Estimated savings range from 5% to 10% on your electric bill, $4000 on an electric car purchase and about $8,000 to $9,000 on a new rooftop solar energy system for your home.

(1 post)Does anyone know where to find more details on the residential solar roof details. I see 8-9k back but when does this start, how is it determined how much you get, how to you apply, etc. The electric car credit does not start until July.

(18,856 posts)Sounds great IF you're a homeowner. I live in an apartment complex. There are no charging stations (or whatever you call them) on the property, and I certainly can't install my own. Is there anything in the law to encourage landlords to install charging facilities for renters? If not, only people who can afford to own their homes will be able to enjoy the benefits of driving an electric car, much less avail themselves of a rebate for buying one.
Kind of ironic, because the savings on gas might make it easier for some people to save up enough for a down-payment.

Manchin and his precious coal.
If I was a cartoonist, I'd draw Manchin as Gollum, stroking a big old lump of coal and crooning, "My preciousss" to it.
