I joined Governor JB Pritzker, the Illinois Congressional Delegation, and advocates for Medicaid coverage to reiterate our commitment to protecting Medicaid in our state. According to an analysis of the Georgetown University Center for Children and Families, in my district, 45 percent of children have health care thanks to the Medicaid/CHIP program. Taking it away will create a public health crisis. According to the nonpartisan Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, in my district, 241,718 people including 115,531 children and 25,000 seniors over 65 years old, from low- and moderate-income families are covered by Medicaid. This is why I voted no on the Republican budget resolution that could leave thousands without affordable health care, placing their future at risk.
I will not allow families in my district to be left scrambling for basic medical care.

In looking up a good pic of the 4th district, I kept running into articles on gerrymandering, Ugh. I have wondered about the black population in Berwyn and this puts it more in perspective
The 4th District of Illinois, commonly known as “the earmuffs,” is a perfect example of a strangely-shaped majority-minority district. The earmuffs give a voice to the large population of Latinx voters in and around Chicago, currently represented by Jesús “Chuy” García. The surrounding area consists of mostly Black and white residents. If the districts were drawn differently, the Latinx voters would not have a majority and their representatives would likely not look like the communities.

I live in the rectangular shaped area at the far west end of the district. My Rep (Jan Schakowsky) is based at the far east end (not all the way to Lake Michigan, but close). She has been in Congress since 1999, but I never imagined my neck of the woods would ever end up in her district. Imagine my surprise the last time the lines were redrawn!
but you certainly see 12th district going for Trump and all white

We moved here to be close to my husband's father, who was our last living parent at the time.. He is no longer living, but in the meantime, we kinda got used to the place. It's gotten a lot bluer over the years, and the Democrats in this county are constantly working on making things bluer!
