Quincy mayoral candidates make final push before April 1st election
QUINCY, Ill. (KHQA) — After winning the Republican primary last month in Quincy, Mayor Mike Troup is seeking a second term as the city’s mayor.
Troup will face former City Treasurer Linda Moore, who is running as an independent.
The two candidates have participated in several forums throughout March and say they have gained a better understanding of the citizens' needs and concerns.
“I think there’s been a lot of good questions,” Troup said. “The city has never been in as strong financial shape as we are today. We are now in our fourth 50-plus-million-dollar revenue budget, the highest the city has had.”
“Being able to listen to them and what their needs are, because what I think is important may not be what they think is important," said Moore. "So listening to them, hearing their perspectives, and after you get several different perspectives, being able to put it together to make a decision and find a solution that works for the majority.”
