Indiana women: 'No one's going to do it for us'

Ellen Deeter was not an activist.

Sure, she had strong opinions, but she was not someone who marched, not someone who protested, not someone who called lawmakers to sway votes.

But on Tuesday evening, she showed up along with more than 1,000 women to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church to create change.

“I am so disenchanted by the political process,” said Deeter, 62, an attorney who lives in Indianapolis.

She doesn’t like President Donald Trump, whom she considers “morally bankrupt.” She feels left behind by the Republican Party, which she had followed for most of her life. She wants to uphold democracy, the Constitution and human rights for all.
