Related: About this forumA Christmas Thought from the Old Man
I have been listening and following the thoughts and actions of the new Pope. I am not Catholic but this Pope would make most people of good conscience feel humble. My wish for the coming year is that our political representatives, both left and right, would embrace some of the Pope's doctrine and work for the betterment of all people.

you sir or madam are one sick human being! I'll have you know more priests leave the priesthood for female relationships than gays! their are more gays in public school systems
than the priesthood(percentage wise!) ! this pope has just come into office but your evangelist group have had many gay ministers ;many who were married and practicing homosexual's!
All priests are not gay nor are all ministers ! I was going to parochial school when a priest who was adored by the student body took off with the local theater ticket taker, married and was forced to leave the priesthood! It was the scandal of the year! Of course now that I'm old I know that priests use to be allowed to marry! the reason it changed was the congregations couldn't support large families! (and the Catholics can't use the pills)
BUT THEN THAT WOULD BE LIKE CALLING ALL TV MINISTERS THEIEVES LIKE BAKER!

(18,998 posts)4. Yep....when we finally have a religious leader who speaks out
for progressive values we should get behind him with out support whether we are atheist, agnostic. Buddhist, Hindu, or whatever...
But sadly that will not happen with some people...especialy right wingers and the billionaires.
And Welcome to DU Old Man...

(3,880 posts)7. a very nice xmas thought
sir I think that was a wonderful thought since xmas should be about faith! not just what's under the tree! I feel all Christians should welcome the reason we celebrate xmas! It is because of our lord and savoir we celebrate on dec. 25th! And as a Christian I will defend any Christian faith it's day of joy!
And those who post hate of the pope and make it a political garbage blast should be taken to task as they are not really Christians in any since of the word ;they are merely bigots unfit to be heard!
