Woke up this morning and felt like I got run over by a bus. Anyways, ready for winter now!

1. Do you heat with wood or augment your heat with wood

Growing up, my parents would keep the oil furnace on 60 and we had an old wood burning stove in the den that mostly heated the house.

2. I do have an oil furnance.

Getting a delivery this week. I keep it around 64, but the wood stove does a great job of heating the 1st and 2md floors. as it is an open concept log home. Have a 2nd woodstove in the cellar that I use when the temps dip below 0.

3. We bought a house about three years ago that had a big nice wood stove. The county of Missoula

does not allow wood burning any longer so we removed it. What a project as it was very big and very heavy.

Our house is heated with gas and our bills are really high. We noticed all our neighbors are burning their wood stoves so I asked one of them. They told us that our neighborhood was put in in the late 60's and that we are grandfathered in and can burn our wood stoves.

Now we are not sure what to do. We could get a smaller wood stove to supplement our gas or we could get a propane stove since we never removed the chimney from the roof. I love wood stoves and in Montana it would be good to have backup heat in case we loose power. Sigh, another thing to think about and another expense. Having two wood stoves, what a luxury.

4. My parents are older now

My dad replaces the wood stove with a pellet stove. He gets around 5000 pounds of pellets dropped in 40 pound bags next to the garage. Covers the pallet with a tarp and grabs a bag when
Ever he is walking by. Has my nephew restock 5/6 bags weekly for him. It’s pretty reasonable. I think the 5000 pounds costs him 750-800 bucks.
