Might there have been a way for you to hold your tongue or at least state your piece in a manner a bit more respectful on a day that is meaningful to them? I don't think the OP was trying to harm or insult you.
(And no, I do not consider myself Christian or religious in anyway.)

(27,328 posts)This was always my late father's favorite holiday, so now that he's gone, it makes me a little sad. But, I'm off to pick up my 95 year old aunt, to take her to dinner at my Mom's. My brother is currently making a roasted lamb, red potatoes, asparagus, and I'm supplying the strawberry short cake, for dessert.
And, naturally, we will drink a big toast to my Dad.
