A contractor hanging up holiday lights at a Wellesley home suffered a life-threatening electric shock and was revived by a defibrillator on Wednesday, according to police.

Wellesley police said first responders received a 911 call around 10 a.m. reporting that a man had been electrocuted on Falmouth Circle. Police said the man had been hired by a resident to install holiday lights on a large tree using a pole. … “It appears that the pole being used came into close proximity, or contact with, a primary electrical line on a utility pole,” police said.

He sustained a life-threatening shock, which rendered him unconscious. The 911 caller reported that he appeared to be having a seizure and had stopped breathing. … A dispatcher gave the caller instructions for beginning CPR at the scene until officers arrived at the scene “moments later,” police said.

One of the officers took over chest compressions and the area was cleared since first responders were unsure at the time of where the electric shock originated, police said. … “Wellesley first responders delivered multiple shocks from the AED in between providing CPR and breathing for the victim,” police said. “The last shock administered to the victim by the AED appeared to revive him as he regained a pulse.”
