Sheffield top fundraiser in Detroit mayor race but two others raise over $100K in months

Detroit City Council President Mary Sheffield remains the top fundraiser in the competitive race to be Detroit's next mayor.

Sheffield raised $162,830 between October and December 2024, bringing her total available funds to $467,852 as of Dec. 31, according to the latest public campaign records. That gives Sheffield a sizeable money lead over other candidates at this early stage in the mayoral race.

Sheffield's contributions included a broad mix of corporate donors and small business owners. The Rock Holdings Inc. State PAC, affiliated with billionaire Dan Gilbert, gave $13,000. Cindy Pasky, CEO of Strategic Solutions Inc., donated $8,000.

"I’m incredibly honored by the overwhelming support from every corner of Detroit, from lifelong Detroiters, business owners, new Detroiters and developers alike," Sheffield said in an emailed statement. "This movement is powered by people who believe in our shared future. With donors of all sizes from every sector, the energy and momentum are undeniable. We’re not just running a campaign, we’re building a movement— a people-focused movement, and I couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead."
