Oakland County city decides to save money by changing voting districts

Voters in Rochester Hills will see fewer precincts in upcoming elections after the city council voted to consolidate locations to save money.

The council last Monday unanimously approved Clerk Leanne Scott’s request to reduce the precincts from 32 to 21.

The change will save the city more than $500,000 over the next five years, Scott said, estimating an average of $28,000 saved for each election.

The reduction will not change residents’ school districts, county commission seats or state or federal districts, she said.
