Michiganders could vote on ending Daylight Saving Time

State Senator Thomas Albert (R-Lowell) wants to give Michigan voters a chance to hit the snooze button. He’s introduced a bill to let voters decide if Michigan will switch permanently to standard time.

Albert sees no benefit to Daylight Saving Time.

“I’m a dad. I have young kids. (Sunday’s) a rough day,” said Albert with a laugh.

Supporters argue Daylight Saving Time helps conserve energy and give more daylight into the evening hours during the spring and summer.

It was then rescinded. As a "concept of a plan" 79% supported it, but as a reality, support dropped to 42%

People didn't like it because school children were walking to school in the dark. Less children walk to school or to the bus stop than ever.

Another alternative is to go on permanent Saving Time. That will preserver the summer after-work daylight for various sports leagues.

This issue should make for some fun campaign ads.

I just lost my last horse, but I cannot tell you how much I loved the extra hours of daylight when I had him.it made care SO much easier. I can only imagine how much farmers still need that time. I still enjoy that daylight and hate it when it ends. Who doesn’t like extra daylight in the summer!
