Spread the word! (And, Flint's Bishop Airport now has a vaccination center. They are anticipating a clinic once a week, for now, but increasing as the eligibility advances.)
MT. PLEASANT, Mich. (WJRT) (3/5/2021)--Theres a fading opportunity for people in the northern part of the ABC12 viewing area: one of the states largest pharmacy chains -- Rite Aid -- says it has more vaccines than appointments and theyre looking for people to give them to.
I really want to get these doses used because so many people need them.
Jessica Batteens job puts her on the frontlines of the fight to get as many shots into as many arms as possible. As part of that, the Rite Aid pharmacy leader makes sure the chains vaccination effort runs smoothly. So, what appeared to be a significant surplus in doses couldnt escape her attention.
Why would you say these appointments arent being filled? Is it a lack of interest or is it a lack of awareness?
-----------------------
Its no secret theres been a lot of head scratching when it comes to who to call, where to go and what to do to get that shot ASAP. Health departments, hospitals, clinicsall wracked at one time or another by supply shortages and phone book-sized waitlists. Moral to the story: it pays to shop around.

(27,322 posts)Right now, in Genesee County, that's March 22 for anyone 50+ years old.
Opening that location at Bishop Airport is great because it's pretty centrally located in Genesee County.

(27,322 posts)Actually, I couldn't find ANYONE on my side of the county offering the vaccine.
I can't complain, though, because the Meijer Pharmacy that contacted me is only about a 15 minute drive away, in good traffic. Their process, the day I was there, was pretty efficient. I've heard of people driving for hours, and then waiting for MORE hours, to get their vaccinations.
