"Yes" holds large lead in Prop. 3 poll

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – According to a new EPIC-MRA poll of 600 likely and active voters, “yes” holds a commanding lead on Proposal 3.

Prop. 3 would enshrine abortion and reproductive freedom as rights in the Michigan constitution. If passed, it would allow the individual to make all the decisions regarding their pregnancy, including prenatal care, childbirth, postpartum care, contraception, sterilization, miscarriages, infertility and more. It would also allow the state to create abortion regulations after fetal viability, except to save the patient’s physical or mental health. It would invalidate all similar state laws that conflict with the amendment.

Around 57% of respondents said they would vote “yes” on Prop. 3 come Tuesday’s election. Around 40% said they would vote “no” – a 17-point gap.

Specifically, 53% are definitely voting “yes” and 4% are leaning toward “yes.” About 38% are definitely voting no and 2% are leaning towards “no.”

1. Follows with other polls

And this is going to drive blue turnout like few other things in the country. I don’t know what’s going to happen across the country Tuesday, but here in MI we’re going to see a blue wave!

2. I'm going to be a cockeyed optimist and hope we can flip the State Senate this year.

I'm pessimistic about the House, but, for the first time in years, flipping the Senate is doable.

3. Yes it is

Redistricting is going to make a huge difference in our state. Doubt if we get the House, but the Senate is doable.

And of course Whitmer, Nessel, and Benson are all going to win easily.

After next week, Michigan will have all 3 biggest state govt posts still in blue hands. The Congressional delegation could switch from 7-7 to 8-5 Blue, we'll still have 2 Dem Senators, and we could flip the state Senate and make the State House really close.

That, and we'll have enshrined abortion rights into our state's constitution, made voting easier and put in state term limits of 12 years for state House and Senate.

Dems need to get abortion ballot initiatives on the ticket in many more states in 2024. It's driving a blue wave here.

4. I don't get why they're saying that Nessel is in trouble and that she "should be worried."

Even the Detroit Free Press is saying it. She's up by 6, ffs, but I guess they need "drama." It pisses me off, though. It seems, unless a Democratic candidate is up by 20 points, they're "in trouble." Arrgh.

5. It's remarkable isn't it

If A Dem leads by 6 it's a horse race. It a Dem leads by 3 "it's tied". If a Rep leads by 3 they're "pulling away."

Seen it all over the news for months. I've literally seen them call a 51-48 poll "tied".

6. Especially when pollsters ask whether their vote is a solid yes, more folks said

yes to that regarding Nessel, Benson, and Whitmer than any of the GQP candidates. I should be used to it by now, but it still gets on my last nerve. I did like the quote from the president of EPIC/MRA polling outfir, "Republicans will vote for a ham sandwich if it has an 'R' next to it."

7. What I would love to see

Is after Dems sweep our state offices, if the news would go out and interview the "forgotten" democratic voter and find out why they voted so overwhelmingly to reelect the women who lead our state government.

Let us speak for a change! Let us tell the viewers how the Republican Party being so extreme drove us to vote.
