Interesting statistics about the strib

Glen Taylor had a report including this statistics

• The Star Tribune now has the fourth-largest metro daily print newspaper circulation in the country. Only the New York Times, Washington Post and Los Angeles Times have more daily print circulation.

• The Star Tribune has the third-largest Sunday single-copy retail newspaper sales in the country — and the largest outside of New York City.

• The Star Tribune has among the highest number of digital subscribers among major-metro newspapers. Today more than 100,000 readers pay for digital access as part of their subscription. Thanks to snowbirds and out-of-town Vikings fans, among others, we have digital subscribers in all 50 states.

• The Star Tribune is now the only seven-day, home-delivered newspaper available throughout the state of Minnesota. As a resident of greater Minnesota, I'm especially proud of that fact.

So yes, I will continue to subscribe. The main section is full of syndicated reports that one can read online.

The editors seem to bend backward to accommodate cooky right wing opinion columns.

The Minnesota section is all the hit and run, shooting, rape, etc.

Don't care about the Sport sections

Still, I do read it. I often find the editorial interesting, also the ones from other sources. I like the letters sections to find reactions to opinions even if I did not read them. On occasions I even got some of mine published.

So I will continue to support it. Last year we sent all the stimulus payments to charities and to candidates, not necessarily ours. So I put the strib among the ones that benefit from us.

For now.

went to 4 days per week paper and 3 days per week online. I have to print out the crossword on Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday.

But we want to support our local paper (Rachel tells us to!).

The Op Ed pages have some wonderful columnists (and some odious ones) like EJ Dionne and Leonard Pitts.
