And it issued a statement hinting that Phillips, D-3rd District, may face more trouble when his House Democratic colleagues return from recess in early September.
Joe Biden has been a transformational president. Leader Jeffries strongly supports his candidacy and intends to do everything in his power to make sure that President Biden is reelected to a second term, Jeffries spokeswoman Christiana Stephenson said in a statement. Dean Phillips was independently elected to a leadership position in the House Democratic Caucus. He is ultimately accountable to his House colleagues, who have not been bashful in sharing their views.
Glad to see Jeffries and others supporting Joe. Ken Martin is also disagreeing with Phillips' foray into the presidential race.
distraction and divide our party at a time when we need to unify.
Martin went even further in a Washington Post piece published Thursday, saying I find it really disappointing on a number of levels that he has continued to repeat baseless Republican talking points.

(1,445 posts)that Dean will flip to independent or R. Less likely R. Or join up as the candidate for the No Labels. He has dug his grave on the possibility of re-election with harm to the Party in our State. People may say he is a good politician for their area but that will not be enough.
I am personally saddened and shocked to see him do this. Had higher expectations for him knowing some in his family.
Would like some names of those he says support his running and running his mouth.

(28,506 posts)which means the DFL would, most likely, put up a candidate against him and it would result in Republicans taking the district back.
If sticks with the DFL through 2024 I don't know if anyone would challenge him in the primary or not. That too could throw the general election to the Republicans.
I am so disappointed in him.

(1,445 posts)Something is so "off" for me on this.
Seemed to coincide starting after the trip he took.
A smart DFL would start now to identify a very strong candidate in case. Very strong. And concentrate on getting people to vote.
Dean made a stupid.
