Is Minnesota ungovernable?

Both the governor and the speaker were on WCCO this morning and seems like we are at impasse, again. No meaningful legislation this year, again.

Someone once suggested that the sessions are too short - left over from the legislators-farmers era. I don't think so. They can have extra month and will still not reach a compromise.

Frankly, I did not follow all the details, it seems that one point of disagreement is funding for school and it dawned on my suspicious mind that the Outstate Republicans do not want to fund the inner cities schools..

They did not pass any gun control law - of course not. And do not want "government to tell people what to do" by banning hand-held devices while driving.

In my opinion, it is not the ban but the punishment. I did not follow closely all the news stories, but it appeared that in many recent deaths that resulted from distracted drivers, the punishment was relatively light. The guilty party shed tears, regrets, and in many cases got probation.

I like the suggestion of a recent letter to the strib: when a driver is caught texting while driving - I think that this, at least, is against the law - punishment should be $1,000. This, certainly, will get the attention.

Sigh..

occasions. The Minnesota Voters seem to love a divided Legislature, then they piss and moan when things never get done. Lived in Minny for 45 years, watched how so many voted against their best interests.

Example,Allen Quist and his Southern Minnesota Merry Band of Right Wing Quistians. Talk about a bunch of hypocrites. One of the major causes to the destruction of Public Education in Minnesota.

Yep,gots ta have that Anti-Abortion and Taxpayers to pay for the Lutheran School on Hyw 14 in Nicolette County. Heard it all.
