Fischbach resigns from state Senate, is sworn in as lieutenant governor

Why? The session is done for this year. Had she resigned before the Senate would have been evenly divided but I doubt it would have made a difference.

And she will be Lt. Gov only until Jan 1 (or whenever the new gov will take office). Unless she will be a running mate to the Republican candidate.

What am I missing?
