Dozens of people tried to loot the Midway Target in St. Paul Thursday.
According to St. Paul Police, a group of 50 to 60 people tried to overwhelm the store's staff. However, police arrived and confronted the group, and the people then dropped the items they'd grabbed and fled.
Immediately afterward, a fight broke out in the store's parking lot, and a person was nearly run over by a vehicle. Despite that, police said no injuries were reported.
The group also attempted to go into nearby small businesses but were stopped by police.

Is there some link between police reform and Target that I am unaware of?

I'm not sure the right thing is being said to the right people.

(4,987 posts)They could have killed people. There were also several shootings. Do you think he would have supported that as well?

(11,463 posts)amount of traffic. (Most of the streaming was at Lake & Hiwatha and Lake & Minnehaha and nearby), and I thought there's no way there's anywhere near that kind of traffic normally even in that major intersections area at 2 am and 3 am. (For people out of state: we haven't opened bars and restaurants yet, other than takeout only). So all I can figure is not only was most of that car traffic from protesters, but also from protesters who stayed there that late.
While I'm at it, MetroTransit has suspended ALL bus and light rail trips until Monday. Two exceptions: the shuttle between the two terminals of the airport and the Northstar commuter line.

Another aside: I had the illusion until this morning that last night's (Wednesday night's) rioting was just in the area of the 3rd Precinct near Lake & Hiawatha and Minnehaha. This makes clear it was in several places in both Minneapolis and St. Paul:

Plenty more to add to the list from what I've seen on live video early this evening, and I have no illusion that the worst is over for tonight.

In the next thread people, in some cases the same posters, are saying it is the protesters lashing out after decades of oppression and legitimate frustration at the lack of change in an inherent racist system.
While they may be two distinct groups, there seems to be a non-zero overlap between them.
