Early voting underway in Jackson Ward 2 special election
JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Early voting has begun in the special election to fill the seat recently vacated by Ward 2 Councilwoman Angelique Lee.
Lee stepped down last month only hours before she pleaded guilty to a federal conspiracy to commit bribery charge in U.S. District Court.
Six candidates have qualified to run in the race: Catherine Robinson, Marcus Cheatham, Celestial Gordon-Griffin, Brian Mozee, Montyne Clay, and Cheryl Matory.
Ward 2 voters can cast absentee ballots at the Municipal Clerk’s Office 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The clerk’s office also will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, September 21, and Saturday, September 28.
