National Enquirer attraction to open in Branson, Pigeon Forge

A new attraction has been announced for Branson, as well as Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

National Enquirer — a tabloid magazine that's been printed for almost a century — is set to open an interactive family attraction in Pigeon Forge in May and this summer in Branson, according to Renee Johnson, general manager for the Branson location.

"We are super excited," Johnson said. "This is a long time in the works."

The two National Enquirer Live locations will cost an estimated $25 million combined, Johnson said.

2. I drive through Branson on my way to Illinois. You couldn't pay me

to stop. A couple of years ago, my sister and I did pull into the welcome center, north of Branson, to use the restroom. The whole center is devoted to signing people up for the 'attractions' and handing out discount coupons. The lady asked me if I was staying overnight, and I told her they couldn't pay me enough to do so.

3. You're right. I used to go in the early 1970s before Branson became the big attraction that it...

is today (with Silver Dollar City, etc.). We can't even force ourselves to go...last time we went there (early Spring), even though the signs for the attractions said they were open, they were not (Titantic, Ripley's Believe It or Not). We actually stopped at the Overlook Tower (a high tower overlooking the entire area, kind of neat), but that's it. We were there literally about a hour and left.

It is nothing but a huge tourist trap/blob, starting almost immediately south of Springfield MO and going for the next literally 70 miles of tourist traps, music shows, almost anything that would suck the money out of your wallet faster than a speeding bullet. If you want to enjoy something, drive to Joplin MO and go to the Rock Museum. Joplin MO has a long and interesting history of mining, and have a pretty decent Rock Museum. We went there after the failed Branson MO trip and really enjoyed the Rock Museum. And it wasn't pricey either.

It's going to be nothing but bad pictures of Hillary Clinton and whatever British Royal the hard right wants you to be pissed off about this week. Sorry guys, but if I want to go to a tourist trap I'll go to Vegas and see Gregory Popovich's trained-housecat show.
