St. Clair's Prop Fire fails on Tuesday ballot

The St. Clair Fire Protection District’s (SCFPD) proposed $10 million bond issue, called Proposition Fire, did not pass in Tuesday’s election.

Missouri requires a four-sevenths majority, or roughly 57 percent approval, to pass a bond issue. A total of 1,580 district voters, or 53.92 percent, supported the measure, with 1,350 voters, or 46.08 percent, voting against it.

If passed, Prop Fire would have created a new property tax levy, expected to come in at $0.29 per $100 of assessed property valuation, SCFPD Board President Stephanie Butenhoff previously told The Missourian.
