A secretly recorded tape in which Republican Congressional candidate Greg Gianforte says he is "thankful'' for the passage of legislation repealing the Affordable Care Act sheds light on the high stakes of Montana's special election.
Gianforte has made no secret that he favors replacing the health care plan pushed through by President Barack Obama and Democrats in Congress. "It's not working. It's in a death spiral,'' he told the Missoulian. "It needs to be repealed and replaced.''
But how that's done could have a dramatic impact in Montana, where the percentage of people without insurance dropped from 20 in 2012 to 7.4 percent last year, according to the Commissioner of Securities and Insurance.
A recent report by the Montana Budget and Policy Center predicts that 142,000 Montanans could lose insurance if the Affordable Care Act were repealed.

(94,246 posts)that carpetbagger doesn't get that we f'ing MEAN it when we say that we won't go back yto what we had/really didn't have. When the ACA became law and penalties for not signing up in a red, nonparticipating state came around, none of us were very happy. We were hit hard, with penalties for not having insurance... why? Because we couldn't afford it even with the subsidies. When Governor Steve Bullock (D) manged to make Montana a participating state, we poor people were able to get on medicaid, the first time Ive had health insurance in over a decade. I'm now getting exams that I should have had, for a lingering problem that is becoming more of a problem, many years ago. I took out a loan to get some major dental surgery a few years ago...
So Mr Millionaire can go take a flying F at a rolling donut. We rejected him last November and I expect that the same will be taking place this time around. He's got cheato jr out here again this week to waste our time. He must be getting nervous, the DNC (?) just pumped some more cash into the Quist campaign.
Absentee ballots have already arrived in the mail, I sent mine back the same day I got it.

(24,129 posts)It's not that I didn't know who and what kind of creature gianforte is. I know who he is. He IS a member of the 1%. He does not have my best interest at heart. He does not value me or my family or the business we have built in Montana over the last 30 plus years. We are self employed. We NEVER got insurance through an employer. We have ALWAYS been self insured and I have always compared our experience of being self insured to swimming with sharks. It has been a horror film for our whole adult lives. I've refinanced our home more than once to pay medical bills. I've liquidated a 401k to pay medical bills. I've never asked for anything but to be able to buy in to the same fucking health plan that our state and federal representatives have the benefit of participating in.
Greg Gianforte wants to rape Montana and the good hard working people of this great state. I will not have it. He is here to rape and pillage because he thinks we don't know better. The joke is on you, Greg. We SEE THROUGH YOU.
