NV Caucus goers: Dems trounce Reps by 12%

From the news headlines from last night and today, you'll notice a lot of discussion about the GOP caucus running out of ballots and "record number" blah blah blah. So I did the math.

Two Web sites show the GOP caucus goer data summed differently, but the totals were exactly the same 75,216. That's their record number.

According to the Las Vegas Sun, the Nevada Democratic Party reported approximately 84,000 caucus goers on Saturday for the democratic side. This is more in line with what actual caucus goers like myself witnessed. There were a lot of democrats that came out to participate in the democratic caucus process. That's 12% more than who showed up to caucus for the GOP.

Record numbers indeed. You won't find news headlines boasting about energized Democrats, but the numbers don't lie.

One that takes up a day of your weekend or one you can waste on a week night? So there's an argument for both sides.

Though I'd prefer we not have caucuses at all. Pure raw vote is the best and most effective way to gauge public mood.

I've had things lost in the mail before. I wouldn't vote that way unless several weeks out and the state is willing to send some sort of confirmation.

you'd know. as a matter of fact, it's the only way you've got people chasing your ballot which makes it the safest, most secure way to vote.

but, it DO get your concerns and have shared them in the past until i observed how the system works. it's not just the DECs that chase your ballot, btw. it's all the campaigns. once you request a vote-by-mail ballot, everyone knows and they all call you and visit until you return and it's logged in.

If you don't want to mail it there are local secure drop off spots such as libraries where you can deliver it yourself. No lines. Vote at your convenience from home. I love it.

It would be a complete sweep out of Republicans up for election, on all levels of government.

No more Mitch McConnell determining what gets voted on. None of it!
STAY ENERGIZED, MY FELLOW DEMOCRATS!!!

I feel better, I didn't pay attention to the numbers, just came away thinking republicans killed on turnout in Nevada ...
