Widow of PA man who died telling Trenton cops he couldn't breath intends to sue
TRENTON The wife of a Pennsylvania man who died under the knees of cops before police killed George Floyd in Minneapolis has filed paperwork with the city to hold officers responsible for her husband's death.
Stephen Dolceamore, 29, of Clifton Heights Borough, died April 3, 2020, during a struggle with Trenton Police officers, in the parking lot of St. Francis Medical Center in the capital city.
Body-camera footage released by the New Jersey Attorney General's Office showed a handcuffed Dolceamore, who was white, saying he was being smothered and couldn't breathe as he lay prone while officers kneeled on him for three minutes before he went lifeless.
Attorney Joseph Grimes, who represents Dolceamore's widow Kelly, wrote in the tort-claim notice that the man's cause of death remains pending as the family awaits a final report from the medical examiner.
