Middlesex teachers' union bashes Patel for hateful rhetoric
A Democratic State Senate candidate is under fire for attacking public school teachers in Edison, with the union president slamming Edison Board of Education Vice President Mohin Patel for hateful rhetoric.
Its ironic that a man who publicly apologized for anti-Muslim Facebook posts and is currently under investigation by a grand jury for a racist mailer would call for psychological testing of teachers and allege that educators are racist, said Lois Yukna, the president of the Middlesex County Education Association.
Patel is challenging State Sen. Patrick Diegnan (D-South Plainfield) in next Tuesdays Democratic primary. He is running on a line with Mahesh Bhagia, a mayoral candidate who was one of the alleged ringleaders of a racist flyer in a 2017 local campaign that is now under investigation.
A U.S. Postal Inspector identified Patel as one of the Edison Eight, a group that was involved in the controversial flyer that drew national attention.
