Malinowski posts gargantuan 2nd quarter fundraising numbers to bolster re-election prospects

Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-Ringoes) had a gargantuan fundraising haul for the 2nd quarter of 2021, bringing in more than $815,000 over the last three months as he prepares for a rematch with Senate Minority Leader Tom Kean, Jr. in New Jersey’s 7th district.

Malinowski has over $1.4 million cash-on-hand after raising over $1.7 million during the first six months of his second term in Congress.

A controversy over Malinowski’s failure to properly report some stock trades does not appear to be affecting his campaign fundraising.

He raised $568,124 during the second quarter of 2019 and a total of $1,172,856 in his first six months as a congressman. Malinowski is about $700,000 ahead of the $1,029,918 that he had banked in his July 2019 report with the Federal Election Commission.

Malinowski is viewed as one of the nation’s most vulnerable House Democrats, but his fundraising success will likely curb the overconfidence of some Republicans.
