White councilman says Trenton set-aside law is discriminatory

TRENTON — A new measure striving to create more equity in how the city awards contracts to vendors is being set aside after a white Trenton legislator complained that it’s discriminatory.

Councilman Geroge Muschal, who also owns and operates the Wishie Washie laundromat in the South Ward, called up members of Mayor Reed Gusciora’s administration this week to complain about the “racist” ordinance.

He told The Trentonian that he threatened to file “discrimination charges” against the city unless the ordinance was yanked from the docket.

“I’m tired of this one-sided deal: brown and Black,” Muschal said. “I’m about everybody being equal.”
