Over 525,000 N.J. voters have already returned VBM ballots

The number of New Jersey voters who have already cast mail-in ballots for the November 5 election is now up to 525,879, an analysis by Associated Press election researcher Ryan Dubicki shows.

Democrats are outpacing Republicans by a 3-1 margin on returned vote-by-mail ballots, 323,786 to 107,908, with 92,315 VBMs from unaffiliated voters.

So far, Democrats are returning mail-in ballots at a rate of 55%, three points higher than Republicans.

Election officials sent out 8,131 vote-by-mail ballots on Tuesday, totaling 1,076,879 statewide. Of those requesting VBMs, 587,632 are Democrats and 207,690 are Republicans.

In the Tom Kean vs. Sue Altman congressional race in New Jersey’s 7th district, 56,144 of the 112,647 mail-in ballots have been returned. Democrats are outpacing GOP voters on returned ballots by a 2-1 margin, 30,877 to 14,467.
