School district confirms board member Jason Carty (D) faces investigation
he president of the Rancocas Valley Regional School District notified residents yesterday that Jason Carty, a member of the district’s board of education, is under investigation after an incident at his home with his wife, a Lumberton committeewoman.
Carty, a veteran Democratic operative, was charged with aggravated assault by strangulation, an indictable offense, and harassment with the intent to cause alarm, a petty disorderly persons offense after a disturbance at the home of his wife, Gina LaPlaca.
The letter does not specifically name Carty, but it states that one of its board members is under investigation. The letter clarifies that the state Department of Education is responsible for “all legal actions,” if necessary, following the investigation.
“Following the legal due process that any board member is entitled to, the New Jersey Department of Education will notify the RV Board of Education and the RV administration of any actions it plans to take based on the outcome of the investigation,” the letter reads.
