Senate Bill 382 is now law. The state House completed the necessary vote to override Gov. Roy Cooper's veto. The law provides relief to Helene victims, while also stripping power away from state Democrats and giving Republicans a greater say in public schools and elections.

(25,739 posts)We've been through this before when Pat McCrory was gov. It's a stupid game at this point. Huge waste of taxpayer's money.

(1,102 posts)They gerrymander and gerrymander until they have control...then when the state of North Carolina votes for a Democrat in a state-wide election they decide to hamstring them as much as possible. They did it to Cooper and now they're doing it in advance of Stein.
Now that we've broken the super majority, at least Stein will be able to veto without fear of an override.
Take them to court.

(3,856 posts)On my street in Asheville there is only one family that is Republican but they are quiet about it. Everyone on the street (except the husband in the R-family) is from northern or western states. It's been a rough couple of months, first Helene did some major damage to most of us and then the excruciating election----very hard to have a "happy face"! But.....Happy Holidays to all!
