Large new island forms off popular Outer Banks fishing spot

BUXTON, N.C. -- The Outer Banks has a new attraction this summer: an island. It’s a mile long and three football fields wide and it’s just off the tip of Cape Point, the world-famous surf-fishing site near the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.

“Yeah, isn’t it crazy?” visitor Janice Regan said. “It was just a little bump in April.”

Wish I could share this with my grandmother. She retired to NC, but to the Western part, beautiful mountain country. When we were kids, we visited the ocean with her and she taught us all the names of the shells. She'd be fascinated. This is one place I'd love to visit!
