Urban Meyer to retire from coaching after Rose Bowl

The Urban Meyer coaching era at Ohio State will end with the Rose Bowl vs. Washington on Jan.1, the school confirmed for The Dispatch on Tuesday, and the Ryan Day era will begin in earnest.

Meyer, who led the Buckeyes to the first College Football Playoff national championship in 2014 and just guided their third Big Ten title game win last Saturday night, is believed to be stepping down due to health reasons. He is expected to give his reasons in a press conference this afternoon.

He's almost coached himself to death or serious disability twice.

Thanks for the championship and kicking Michigan's sorry ass so systematically.
