I worked for the Dayton adult ed branch, but had to deal with the small-minded, small-town twits on the main campus frequently. It didn't surprise me - I grew up in a rural town in another part of the state that's full of equally blindered, incurious individuals who like to blame their problems on anybody else, and vote out of spite. It's easy to see why they love Trump so much - they behave a lot like he does, morally and ethically.

The locals who worked on the campus were in Gym's congressional district. I can understand why guys like Gym, and their state rep Nino Vitale (he's the ass who said he wouldn't wear a mask because it would cover his face from God, or some other such crap) get re-elected. Our campus had a significant minority enrollment - they were awful to our students, especially the African American ones, when they had to go to campus or call up there to conduct business with the university. Whenever possible, I tried to make the calls for them. They already knew I was an asshole, I didn't care if they didn't like me.
