Lucas County Commissioner's race heats up down the homestretch to election day

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Early voting has started in Lucas County with many marquee races. A big one includes a pair of seats on the Lucas County Board of Commissioners.

Two Democrats on the board are facing Republican opposition.

On Tuesday former Toledo City councilmember Tom Waniewski, who’s challenging Commissioner Pete Gerken a Democrat, for his seat released a plan he believes will address the needs of Lucas County residents, but Gerken says his plans fall flat.

It’s a 10-point plan, Republican Waniewski, is touting to save taxpayer money.

He admits, his plan includes a combination of raising and lowering certain taxes.
