Biden Expressway sign work slows I-81 traffic

SCRANTON, Pa. — Overhead sign replacement work slowed traffic on Interstate 81 northbound in Lackawanna County Wednesday morning.

PennDOT is replacing Central Scranton Expressway signs with new "President Biden Expressway" signs on I-81 in Scranton.

If you were stopped in traffic on Interstate 81 north in the Scranton area, you could indirectly blame the president.

Signs bearing President Biden's name were put up above the highway. The exit formerly known as the central Scranton Expressway exit is now called the President Biden Expressway exit.

Scranton City council voted earlier this year to name the expressway and Spruce Street in the city's downtown after Scranton native Joe Biden.
