While Republicans remain split over their own candidates, more than half of all the registered Democratic voters who were surveyed by Franklin & Marshall College in late April said they plan to vote for John Fetterman in the U.S. Senate primary, according to a poll released Thursday.
Mr. Fetterman, Pennsylvanias lieutenant governor, leads U.S. Rep. Conor Lamb 53% to 14% in the new poll, which surveyed 357 registered Democrats from April 20 to May 1. State Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta registered in third place at 4%, with Jenkintown Councilwoman Alex Khalil trailing the pack at 1%.
This represents a 12-point bump for Mr. Fetterman since the last F&M poll, conducted in early April when he was at 41%. In that time frame, Mr. Lamb dropped 3 points and Mr. Kenyatta didnt move the needle.
In the GOP field for Senate, theres no clear frontrunner in the new poll of 325 registered Republicans, but Dr. Mehmet Oz appeared to get a slight bump in the last month from former President Donald Trumps endorsement.

Please note: this is the same poll that was criticized by Conor Lamb that the sampling is so small - 357 registered Democrats. Fair enough. However the recent challenge to Roe v Wade and the suggestion that SCOTUS may reverse its ruling, is further proof that aggressive Democratic leadership is needed in the Senate. Pennsylvania must elect a Democrat to the Senate for this reason alone! We can't leave it up to chance - we must do our part to keep our Dem majority in the Senate. I believe John Fetterman can do exactly that!

(16,342 posts)Conor Lamb has little name recognition outside of western PA and not enough money for ads to introduce himself to voters statewide. I've only seen a couple of ads for him here although he could be saving what campaign cash he has for ads this week ahead of the 5/17 primary.
Kenyatta never had a chance and suffered from the same lack of statewide recognition.
Fetterman was well-known in western PA before he ran a statewide campaign for LtGov and won. As LtGov, he's been all over the state and visited all 67 counties at least once. It's an overwhelming advantage.

(143,517 posts)The Monmouth University Poll was sponsored and conducted by the Monmouth University Polling Institute from April 20 to 25, 2022 with a probability-based random sample of Pennsylvania voters drawn from a list of registered voters who participated in at least one primary election since 2016. Interviews were conducted by a live telephone interviewer, in English, with 406 registered Democrats (113 landline and 293 cell phone) and 407 registered Republicans (133 landline and 274 cell phone).
So I expect based on the above, a similar thing was done with Franklin & Marshall where the "low number" is actually just surveying the one party and the total surveyed is more in the same "800" range. I know these state polls always have a smaller number of voters than the major media polling outfits.

If Roe is overturned, 36 million women would lose power over their own bodies + lives.
Its not for politicians to judge how and when to become a parent.
Send me to the U.S. Senate, and I'd *proudly* be the 51st vote to scrap the filibuster + codify Roe v. Wade.
